Titre : Advancements in Dermatological Diagnosis: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and 3D Reconstructions in Noninvasive Skin Imaging

ABSTRACT :

Noninvasive skin imaging techniques, including reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and optical coherence tomography (OCT), are transforming the landscape of skin cancer diagnosis and management. However, the current reliance on human expert readers for diagnosis presents limitations. Artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning, and 3D reconstructions are revolutionizing healthcare by enhancing diagnostic and prognostic capabilities. In dermatology, their integration with noninvasive skin imaging holds significant promise for improving the accuracy and efficiency of disease diagnosis and monitoring. They can guide technicians during image acquisition, remove artifacts, and enhance image quality. Furthermore, they can assist dermatologists in identifying regions of interest, facilitating automated lesion detection, classification, and monitoring with heightened accuracy and efficiency. Automated detection would further enable widespread utilization of these techniques.

BIOGRAPHIC:

Dr. Manu Jain is an Associate Attending at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Jain is as a Founding Board Member (Vice President) of the American Confocal Group and a Founding Member of the Cutaneous Imaging Expert Resource group (AAD). She is currently President of the Noninvasive Skin Imaging Group of the Americas (NISIA). Additionally, she chairs the session “Photonics in Dermatology and Plastic Surgery” at the Photonics West (SPIE) annual meeting and contributes as a Board Member of International Confocal Group. She is the founder and Course Director of the MSKCC Annual Confocal CME-accredited course. Dr. Jain is as a pathologist and an optical imaging specialist over 14 years of experience in techniques such as multiphoton microscopy, confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and multimodal devices. Her extensive publication record underscores her significant contributions to this specialized field. Dr. Jain is dedicated to training the next generation of clinicians in noninvasive imaging. Her goal is to revolutionize the early detection of skin cancers by reducing morbidity and mortality. Dr. Jain has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses.
